Delta Gamma Sorority

Wrapping up the 2023-2024 school year, the Delta Gamma chapter at NSMU walked away proudly from the Spring 2024 Greek Excellence awards, earning 8 chapter awards and the highest distinguishing honor of the President’s Cup. Receiving 1st place in Member Education and Development, Most Improved Chapter, Top Leading Chapter of 2024, Chapter Management and Retention, Community Service Hours and Philanthropic Donations, Academic, Philanthropic Affairs, Campus Involvement and Leadership, Social Responsibility, Civility, and Values, and Outstanding Alumnae it is clear the success of her chapter skyrocketed during the spring. Since taking office as president in January, her chapter has exceeded $8,000 in one semester for Service for Sight donations. At Greek Excellence, Miranda was personally honored to receive NMSU All Greek Women, Chapter President of the Year, and Chapter Leader of the Year.

One of her primary goals during this presidency term was to resume planning their chapter house remodel, which was put to an abrupt stop during the breakout of COVID-19. This undertaking of renovations included a remodel costing over $100,000. Building a full property rock wall, replacing the exterior stucco, repainting both the interior and exterior, gutting and reconstructing the ceiling, and a full kitchen rebuild, it would be the first renovation to their property within the last 20 years. Due to the extent of the work, she had to plan accordingly, maintaining close communication with the FMC housing organization and executive region offices; meeting weekly to get their plans off the ground. On May 18th construction broke ground and will be fully complete by August 20th in time for the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

Previously, her leadership involved servicing Panhellenic Executive Council as Vice President of Internal Recruitment, overseeing all sorority recruitment at New Mexico State University. While in this position, she was also vice president of programming for the Delta Gamma sorority. During the time of her membership in the Delta Gamma Eta Lambda chapter, she has devoted time to philanthropic efforts for the Service for Sight Foundation, connecting with alumnae and learning the true meaning of sisterhood.

Within her leadership position, she put on Founders Day which is an annual luncheon, where the alumna accompany their active chapter members for their rituals, recognitions, and award distribution ceremony. She facilitating contacting all sponsors, alumna, and working alongside organizers to find a venue and coordinate catering accommodation. She developed the program itinerary and put together all ceremonies. Leading up to the event, she formatted an Event invite through the Member Planet platform; including RSVP and payment options, video and photography promotion of her chapter, and followed up through email and text reminders to all attendees.

During Parent’s Weekend, Miranda organized three days of events where they would host the families of the chapter members. This included working with NMSU Dean, to coordinate a brunch at the Sam Fulton Center with live music. With collaborating and meeting weekly with catering services to design a menu, decoration blueprint, and create name plates. She coordinated with food business including Caliche’s Custard and Rudy’s Country Store to confirm catering service to accommodate over 100 guests at our Delta Gamma sorority house. She organized reservations for all the parents to attend the annual New Mexico State University Greek Olympics. She worked alongside NMSU Athletics to reserve tickets for all families and their daughters to attend. An NMSU baseball game during this Parent’s Weekend. She was able to speak at the baseball game start the game off with the first pitch. She sent many email RSVP reminders, prior to the weekend and had itinerary agendas and “survival kits,” for pick-up upon arrival for all the families.

In June of 2024, as president of the NMSU Eta Lambda Delta Gamma event, She had the opportunity to attend the 71st bi-annual national/ international convention to celebrate 151 years of the Delta Gamma Sorority. Hosted in Palm Spring, CA, she joined over 140 other presidents, over 100 regional specialists, over 250 alumni officers, and executive office council in three days of general sessions, Honorary college panhellenic council trustee meetings, service for sight philanthropy seminars, and Women in the Professional World luncheons. As her chapter representative, she participated in voting and electing. They delegated time to review all bylaws, allowing a majority vote to pass the reinstitution of some, move for some to be rewritten, and to further eliminate others from her chapter’s national constitution moving forward. Over the span of one weekend, she gained new insights and approaches for managing collegiate chapter affairs, improving officer effectiveness and accountability, and reinforcing the satisfaction in membership experience.
